Job Title: Head of Finance and Strategy

Location: Wuse II, Abuja

Job Summary

​

W2A seeks an experienced and dynamic Finance and Strategy Lead with a robust background in investment banking. The successful candidate will not only lead the financial strategy of the organization but also spearhead the Investment and Trade Facilitation (ITF) department. This dual role demands a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of financial markets, investment structuring, and trade facilitation.

Key responsibilities

1. Finance and Strategy Leadership

 

• Develop and implement W2A’s financial strategy, ensuring alignment with the company’s growth objectives.

• Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.

• Manage capital allocation, financing strategies, and investor relations.

• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.

• Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and executive team.

 

2. Investment and Trade Facilitation

 

• Lead the ITF department in identifying and facilitating high-value investment opportunities within Nigeria.

• Develop and manage investment portfolios, ensuring optimal returns and risk management.

• Structure, negotiate, and close investment deals, leveraging strong networks within the investment banking sector.

• Oversee the development of the W2A Sustainable Agriculture Fund (WASAF) and the Diaspora Agri-Financing Initiative.

• Cultivate and maintain relationships with investors, donors, and stakeholders.

• Provide business advisory services, including opportunity diligence, investor mapping, and transaction advisory.​

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA or relevant postgraduate degree is preferred.

• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in investment banking, with a strong track record in investment management, financial strategy, and trade facilitation.

• Skills:Extensive knowledge of financial markets, investment strategies, and risk management.

                 Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.

                 Excellent negotiation and deal-closing abilities.

                 Exceptional leadership and team management skills.

                 Outstanding communication and relationship-building capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the agribusiness, energy, solid minerals, or maritime sectors.

• Familiarity with the Nigerian investment landscape and regulatory environment.

• Proven ability to manage complex projects and deliver results under pressure.

​
