About
Hero MEA, the Middle East and Africa division of the Swiss-based Hero Group, is a leading regional producer and exporter of high-quality food products. Although the Hero Group traces its origins back to 1886 in Switzerland, its presence in Egypt began with the acquisition of the iconic local jam brand Vitrac in 2002, followed by the establishment of Hero MEA in 2005. Today, Egypt serves as the company’s strategic regional hub, housing the largest jam manufacturing facility in the Middle East and Africa, located in Cairo.
Hero MEA manages an extensive portfolio of well-known brands, including Vitrac, Hero, Frutessa, Tova, Hero Baby, and Organix, covering a diverse range of FMCG product categories. Their offerings include fruit jams and spreads, syrups, juices, honey, peanut butter, and infant nutrition products, all produced or sourced under stringent quality standards. The Cairo factory has been heavily upgraded to meet European-level food quality and safety benchmarks, supporting both local distribution and large-scale international export operations.
The company exports to more than 40 countries across the Middle East, Africa, and beyond, making it one of the most prominent food exporters in the region. Beyond commercial operations, Hero MEA is also involved in sustainability and community initiatives—such as supporting honeybee conservation and partnering with government and NGOs to promote sustainable beekeeping practices in Egypt. With its long heritage, strong manufacturing capabilities, and commitment to delivering natural, high-quality foods, Hero MEA continues to play a significant role in the regional FMCG and food manufacturing landscape.
